- 1955: Born in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture
- 1974: Graduated from Seiko Gakuin High School (Yokohama City); entered the Department of English, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Sophia University
- 1978: Graduated from the Department of English, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Sophia University
- 1991: Won the 4th “Subaru Novel Newcomer Award” for the novel *Maria’s Father*
- Since then, he has been writing not only literary works but also on a wide range of topics, including digital culture theory and the art history of komainu (guardian dogs)
- He also continues his musical activities as a singer-songwriter, as the leader of the guitar duo “KAMUNA,” and as EWI player Jin Soda
- In 2011, based on his experiences living 25 km from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant—which exploded and released radioactive material—he authored *Naked Fukushima* (Kodansha) and *To You Who Live After 3.11* (Iwanami Junior Shinsho).
- He runs his own music and publishing label, “Tanupack,” and continues his unique creative activities.
- He is a member of the Japan Association of Literary Artists. He currently resides in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture.
